Bio:

Raymond Yeung is Chief Economist, Greater China at ANZ, where he leads an award-winning China research team based in Hong Kong and mainland China. He has been recognised for his macroeconomic insights with multiple industry honours, including The Asset’s Local Currency Bond Benchmark Best Sellside Individual, KangaNews Fixed Income Research Pool awards (four times between 2017 and 2022), the FocusEconomics Forecast Award, and Asiamoney’s #2 Best Team for Asian Macroeconomic Research. He is the author of China’s Trump Card: Cryptocurrency and Its Game-Changing Role in Sino-US Trade, published by John Wiley & Sons in 2020. 

Raymond has garnered a strong following for his intellectual offering to ANZ’s institutional clients, including asset managers, central banks and multinational corporations. Since joining ANZ in 2010, he has consistently supported clients by forecasting significant changes in China's growth trajectory and related shifts in monetary and fiscal policy, enabling them to adapt proactively ahead of prevailing market trends. 

Raymond regularly speaks in industry conferences and shares his view on Bloomberg, CNBC and financial media in China, He is often invited to participate in consultative meetings with the Chinese authorities, representative offices of foreign governments and supranational organisations. 

Raymond earned a Ph.D. in economics at Queen’s University, Canada in1999. He is a holder of Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and a Fellow of CPA Australia. He is also a Steering Group Member of China Chief Economist Forum (中国首席经济学家论坛理事).  

Prior to joining ANZ in 2010, Raymond was Deputy Head of Asia Economic Research at Swiss Re.
