Bio:
Stephen Ho, President – Greater China and Growth, Asia Pacific at Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, oversees the operations and business performance of Hyatt properties across Greater China with more than 200 properties in operation. In addition to leading the Greater China region, Stephen spearheads Hyatt’s growth and development throughout Asia Pacific, guiding the strategic and intentional expansion of Hyatt’s diverse brand portfolio. Under his leadership, Hyatt maintains a robust pipeline of new projects, reinforcing the company’s commitment to long-term growth and excellence in hospitality.
Stephen joined Hyatt in 2018, taking on the inaugural role of President – Greater China, Global Operations. In this role, he oversaw the strategic growth and operations of Hyatt hotels in Greater China. Stephen also refined Hyatt’s China inbound and outbound strategy through China-specific digital channels and enhanced localization to meaningfully engage with the country’s highly mobile population.
Prior to joining Hyatt in April 2018, Stephen was Chief Executive Officer, Greater China Region at Marriott International, Inc., where he oversaw all hotels in operation and under construction in the region. He was Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ Asia Pacific President from 2012 to 2016 and is the recipient of the prestigious CNBC Travel Business Leader Award 2014, in recognition of his leadership excellence.
Stephen began his extensive hospitality career as a pastry chef in Brunei in 1981. Since then, he has served in a variety of roles across multiple functions and geographies, including Brunei, Auckland, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Okinawa, Singapore, Dhaka and Beijing, with his role covering design and technical services, supply chain, procurement pre‐opening support for new hotels, business development and acquisitions in Asia Pacific.
A native of Singapore and a permanent Hong Kong resident, Stephen is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Fujian. Stephen received his MBA from the University of Ottawa. Due to his strong interest in Eastern philosophy, he completed a master’s degree in Buddhism at The University of Hong Kong in 2012. He is also a guest associate professor at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
In his personal time, Stephen enjoys running, hiking, cycling, reading and travelling.
